The MD of Smoky River has a Grain Bag recycling depot. Grain bags are commonly used around the MD and many are not being recycled. Each bag contains around 400-500 pounds of plastic that can be utilized to create other products. The MD is working in conjunction with Falman to bring in the Grain Bag Roller for rental. If there is enough call for the use of the grain bag roller, Flaman will bring it in for a week during the second week of July being the 6-10th. This will provide local producers access to the roller to recycle their grain bags. However, we need a guaranteed number of producers to make this happen. A minimum of 2 users is required to bring the equipment in. The cost is $295/ day and is user pay. Bookings will be placed through the MD Agriculture Services department who will then send the information to Flaman Falher who will organize and take payment for the rental. After the bags are rolled the user can then book a time to drop off the rolled grain bags at the MD yard in Falher. Take advantage of having the Roller brought in otherwise you have to pick one up and return to the Flaman dealer in Fairview. That adds about 3 hours of extra travel and cost. This is a good opportunity to clean up the farmyard and recycle large amounts of plastic.
