MD of Smoky River Shelterbelt Program Update

Distribution for the Shelterbelt Program and sale of extra trees will be on:

Monday, June 8, 2026   8:30 am – 4:30 pm

One Day Only

Tree crops were delayed for harvest this spring and we do not have the total of extra trees available at this time.  An update will be provided on the afternoon of Friday, June 5th and we will have an updated list at the office on Monday, June 8th.

Extra trees are available to residents of the MD of Smoky River, the Towns of Falher and McLennan and the Villages of Donnelly and Girouxville.  Trees are sold in bundles of 10 or 15 whatever the case may be and will not be split.  All trees are bare root stock.

Trees must be paid for before going to the shop to pick up your order.  If you do not have your receipt, you will be sent back to the office to pay for them before receiving them.  No Exceptions. (Which may have you waiting in line)

If you have already ordered trees the distribution day is one day only.  If you are unable to make it you must send someone to pay for and retrieve them on your behalf.

Please note that there is no pre-order for the extra trees as it is first come, first served.  If you arrive early for tree pick up you will have to wait until 8:30 am when the office opens to pay for your order.

Hemp mats are available for purchase to help your new plantings survive.

If you have any questions, please contact the MD at 780-837-2221.
