Did You Know? The MD of Smoky River still offers municipal maps, but they no longer include landowner names.

In the past, MD maps included the names of property owners throughout the municipality. With the introduction of Alberta’s new privacy legislation, the MD is no longer permitted to include personal information, such as landowner names, on maps made available for sale to the public.

As a result, landowner names have been removed from MD maps. Our updated maps continue to provide valuable information such as roads, hamlets, communities, and other geographic features.

Protecting your personal information is important to us. The MD is committed to respecting the privacy of residents and meeting its obligations under Alberta’s access and privacy legislation. These requirements help ensure that personal information is collected, used, and disclosed only for appropriate purposes.

Property ownership information remains available through Alberta’s land title system and can be obtained through registry agents or online through SPIN2 (Spatial Information System).
