The Municipal District of Smoky River No. 130 committed to protecting the privacy of personal information and fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
Effective June 11, 2025, the Government of Alberta’s Access to Information Act (ATIA) and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) came into force, replacing the former Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). These Acts apply to municipalities across Alberta, including the Municipal District of Smoky River No. 130.
To support compliance with this legislation and strengthen privacy governance, the MD has established a Privacy Management Program outlining our approach to protecting personal information and responding to access requests.
