2023 Seasonal Positions

 TWO MOWER/HERBICIDE APPLICATOR EQUIPMENT OPERATORS

Seasonal full-time position starts mid to late April and will end approx. end-Sept.

Duties include:

-Operation of tractor with Degelman Sidearm mower attachment and mower in M.D. Roadsides, Flood control ditches and other M.D. properties

-Application of herbicides through the mower’s system

-Maintenance and repair of the equipment

-Operation of a picker truck and grapple to remove rocks and debris from ditches

-Other duties as required

Equipment operation and maintenance skills are essential, as are the abilities to work in a team environment. Strong documentation skills would be an asset.

This is a shift position consisting of 4 days on, 4 days off, two crews of 2 operators each will alternate operation of the equipment.

April/May involves training and rock/debris clearing from M.D. ditches 8-10 hours per day.

June through September will involve operating the mowing equipment throughout the M.D. 12 hours per day.  The mower will be equipped with a herbicide application system so mowing and applying herbicides occurs simultaneously where required.

The Mowing Crews work cooperatively with the Agricultural Fieldman, Weed Inspectors and Spray Truck Operator to achieve roadside and other Municipal property vegetation control.  A minimum Class 5 driver’s license is required; a driver’s abstract will be requested.  Equipment operation, Chainsaw course, herbicide application and picker operator experience or training would be an asset.  Successful applicants will receive training as picker operators and Authorized Assistant’s for herbicide application.  Starting wage will depend on experience, but should be in the $20/hr range.  If successful and able to return for multiple seasons you may be eligible for Long Term Seasonal benefits.
