Good Afternoon

The Honorable Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women is pleased to announce the Alberta Culture Days that will take place from September 1 – 30, 2024.

It started in 2008 as a celebration of Alberta’s arts and cultural communities, know as Alberta Arts Days. In 2009, it changed from a one-day event to a three-day celebration, helping to inspire the establishment of National Culture Days in 2010. In 2012, Alberta Arts Days was renamed Alberta Culture Days, in 2020, Month of the Artist was moved to September and, to complement this initiative, Alberta Culture Days became a month-long celebration. Now in its 16th year, Alberta Culture Days has not only become a celebration of our vibrant and diverse culture, but a creative commemoration of our provincial pride. At its heart, Alberta Culture Days is a volunteer-driven, grassroots movement let by partners in the culture sector. These events bring communities, businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals across our province together to highlight our province’s unique interconnection of people, languages, history and art.

The Government of Alberta is making funding available to Alberta community organizations to help host events for the Alberta Culture Days. Grant applications will be accepted until March 15, 2024. Organizations may apply by visiting www.alberta.ca/alberta-culture-days.aspx.

I hope that this information may be helpful.
